Hello Fellow Runners,
We hope you all had a fantastic holiday and are ready to bring in the new year.
Jim, Katy, Cathrine, and I had a beautiful run this morning the paths were great and the weather was amazing for December!
Monday we plan to run regular time. We won't be running on Wed. or Saturday because we will be ringing in the New Year with a race on Thursday and Friday. Many of us are running the Resolution Run and/or the Polar Dash.
We are planning on a little get-together after the the Run on Thursday to celebrate the New Year. We are not sure if we will go the Nick and Eddies or the like after the run in Maple Grove, but we hope you all can join us for a little cheer!
If you haven't had a chance to join us it is never too late! Just show up and and put one foot in front of the other. We are here and there is a pace for everyone and a distance right for you. What is standing in your way? What excuses are you letting decide you life? WE MISS YOU!!!!!
See you soon,
Cory

Christmas Week
Ho Ho Ho Merry Christmas!
We hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas. Thank you for all the great miles we have run together. Jim and I were talking about all the memories we have with all of you. You have been great friends and have made training so much fun! Just think how much fun we can have in 2010.
The schedule will be the same for the week of Christmas. Same times and same places. We will continue to slowly add our mileage and get ready for some New Year races. Jim and I are running the Resolution Run and the Polar Dash so we will not need to run our 7 miles on that Sat. I just thought I would give you a quick update so you could plan.
See you all soon!

Week of 12-14
Hey Crazy Minnesota Dwellers,
Well, the weather has certainly all got us thinking... what to wear? When in doubt, add a layer you can shed if you need to. Something for your face is important at least for the first 1/2 mile until you warm up.
Monday: 6:30@RR- Left along Isles, 5CD & 5ACG along with our circuit training.
Wednesday: 6:00@RR- Left on Isles and then 4hill repeats and our cool down back to the store.
Saturday: 8:00 @Whole Foods 5 miles and 10 miles or whatever you need to do.
Remember, your resistance bands for Monday.
Carpe' Diem and don't forget to invite your friends they don't know what they are missing!

Wednesday the 9th Weather Cancellation
Winter is Here!
Weather for this Wednesday night is colder with wind chills down below 10 degrees. Jim and I would probably come down but because this is the first real cold snap and none of us are used to it and we don't know if the paths will be cleared we will try to run indoors this evening.
Saturday will be cold as well, but we are planning on coming down to run and dressing really warm. I guess it is time to get out the real winter gear. Ha Ha. We are going to have to get used to the winter weather sometime.
See you all on Saturday!
Have a great day!!!!

Week of Dec. 7th and Colder Weather
Hello Friends,
This week we have 4 CD&ACG finishing with our circuit training which everyone seems to be loving. We have 3 hill repeats on Wed. and then 4 or 10 miles depending on what group you are in.
The important thing this week is we are not used to the cold yet so we need to warm up a bit before we go out and dress in layers. For the long run it is important to dress a bit warmer yet, because you are not running as fast and you are out there a bit longer.

The Beginning of December
Hello Friends,
We hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving. We will be running this evening at 6:30 from the RR. We will be doing Isles with 3CD and 3ACG and finishing with our circuit training. Please try to remember to bring a resistance band so we can work on our upper bodies.
Wed. we will run Isles with 2 hill repeats. Jim will be there. I have my swim banquet, so sadly I will miss you all this day.
Saturday we have two distances. For those doing a winter 1/2 you will be doing 8.5 and those training for a spring 1/2 will be doing 3 to 4.
It is important to warm up well and slowly.
Let us be thankful for good friends, the chance to love, and this beautiful thing called life. Let's live each day to the fullest!

Thanksgiving week
Hello Fellow Runners,
We wanted to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving and safe travels to you and/or your family.
Tonight we will do our normal warm-up; 5 min. walking 10 min. easy jogging. You want to begin every run with this warm-up when it is cold out it is even more important! Then we will do 2 sets of our Cadence Drills and Acceleration Gliders. After that we will do 1 hill before we do our circuit training. Sounds like a lot but it will be loads of fun. Besides it's a party afterwards so we need to burn some calories, right? Come celebrate Jim's birthday with us.
Good luck to all runners running a turkey day race, I know you will all have a blast!

Week of Nov. 16
Hello Friends,
Monday's run is easy around Isles w/circuit training if wanted. Just bring a resistant band if you have one. Wed. is also easy around Isles and Saturday is 3-4 miles for some and 6-7 for others.
It is so important to warm up well and ease into your first 10 minutes of running regardless of the pace you run.
Many are just coming back from a break so there are paces for everyone. We are looking forward to seeing YOU!
Make each day the best!!!

Week of 11/ 09
Hello Runners,
We had a great week of running and it was nice to get some people back in the groove. The weather is much better which makes running so much fun. Today, Saturday was amazing to run in. Life is Good!
This week and most of the weeks to follow the schedule stays the same with 6:30 on Monday at the RR. 6:00 Wed. for run club at the RR. Saturdays at Whole Foods meet at 8:00,( we will get out no later that 8:15.)
Jim and I will consistently, be coming down the three days a week with only a couple of conflicts. We have deceided that we will come down to run regardless of the weather unless it is crazy bad. We hope that helps everyone stay more consistent. We will have short runs on the Week days and do some longer ones on the weekend but our plan is to let everyone build back up and get stronger before we pile on the miles.
If you have a strength training resistance band you are welcome to bring it on Mondays, we are hoping to incorporate a circuit training session in our run if you are interested. You don't have to, it is something we want to try, to get a bit stronger during our winter maintence program. (Amanda has offered to get us started).
Just as an FYI, Jim and I are doing some 5Ks this winter but have deceided our first long race will be the Fargo 1/2 on the 22nd of May. Please let us know what other big races you have in mind so we can share with the group.
I have section swimming this week but it should only interfere with the Monday Run. Jim will be there along with Amanda and their training bands. I will see you all on Wed.
I hope you are all well, and hopefully we will get everyone back in the running groove.
it is never to late to get started all over again.
Have a great week!
Cory
P.S. Please pass along this info to other interested parties.

New training times and places
Good luck to those who are running a race this weekend, the weather should be great for a run!
Jim and I will be at the band shell at 8:00. Jim is running the 1/2 and I am going to walk/run Calhoun for anyone who wants to get a run in and cheer for the other runners.
Next week we will begin a new training session starting with very short slow runs to bring everyone back in. If you have been able to stay well and injury free you can run at your pace with the other in-shape runners.
The days of running will stay the same. Times and locations will vary a bit.
Mondays at the RR @ 6:30
Wednesdays at the RR @ 6:00 (same as run club)
Saturdays at 8:00am @ Whole Foods run no later that 8:15
Please pass this info and the blog site onto anyone you think might be interested. Many of us have gone through a rough patch, but we are not ones to quit, right! Let's get everyone you know back in. We have too much fun to miss out!
Jim and I have signed up for the Resolution Run Dec. 31st. You have to sign up on line and the price goes up Nov. 1st. They are giving away a nice winter technical jacket.
See you all soon,
Cory

Week of 10/19
Hopefully this finds everyone feeling healthier and stronger. Jim, Dean, Joleen and I went out tonight and it was great! We are planning on running on Wed. unless it is raining pretty steady, then we will probably pass. Jim has to work on Saturday so we will not be there but we know of others who will be.
I know most of you will be doing the Monster in some form so hopefully we can all cheer each other on.
We have been asked what's next... Jim and I are planning on keeping the running going through the winter, same days and times but maybe meeting at the RR on Monday and Wed. We could move Wed to 6:00 and run with run club if that works for people too. Either one works for Jim and I. Let us know, some have trouble making it at 6 sharp. We love running Saturdays and don't want to change that anytime soon. We would meet at Whole Foods at 8:00, that way we can use the bathroom and stay warm while we prepare. We can run At 8:15.
There are several races available and if you don't race you can still train and be ready for the spring.
On a personal note, I am feeling better and I want to thank everyone for putting up with me! I was well enough to go skydiving last Saturday, What a Blast!!!
Hopefully I am on the road to good health!
Take care everyone. Jump back in when you are up to it! You know you want to!!!!

getting ready for the monster
Hello Gang,
I am getting better since the surgery, a bit slower than I thought! Jim will be down tonight and Saturday to run. I hope to be down on Sat. we'll see. You have some short fast miles tonight and 13 miles on Saturday. If I make it down I will be walking on Saturday. Hopefully building from there. I miss you all and am sorry to have had such a bad time of it.
I'm still planning on jumping out of a plane at noon of Saturday.
See you soon!

The week of Oct. 5th
Congratulations to all the TC10 mile finishers! You are all winners!!
Tonight the Vikings are trying to win and go into the 1/2 ahead.
Wed. the run leaves from Lunds as usual Jim and I won't be able to make it because we are in a suite watching "So you think you can dance." Sorry.
I will be having surgery on Friday so I am out of commision for a bit just yet. Jim will be there on Saturday morning for 10 to 11 miles. I am hoping I will be able to start back running soon. Obvisously, I am out of the Monster race at this time, bummer. I hope when all this is done I will be stronger than before.
For all of you gearing up for the Monster races, remember the temperature is great this time of year. Keep your training up, you can do it! If you have gotten a bit off track, get up and get going you can run the 5K, the 10 mile or the 1/2.
We have a new computer and I am slowly getting better so ... I will be able to update this blog more frequently.
See you all soon and know I am thinking of all of you!!!!!!

Hope to see you there!

Week of the 17th
Hello Friends,
This week appears to be a bit cooler, yeah! We will be leaving Lunds both nights at 6:30. We have a 45 min run on Tuesday and 4 hills on Thursday. Then 9 miles on Saturday morning. Lets keep the 7:30 time for Saturday so that we stay cool for our long run.
Everyone seems to be doing a much better job of warming up and cooling down better. So hopefully everyone is feeling pretty good. After the walk and the first 10 minutes of easy running for the short runs, then y'all can kick it up and see a bit more what you can do. See what you can hold in the middle of your runs.
For the long runs always take the long runs slow.

Hello Gang,
Well the runs this week have been really good despite the heat. Many of us talked and thought that because of the heat we will start at 7:30 tomorrow morning from Whole Foods for 7.5 because many did not get in their long run or didn't go as far.
You can park behind Noodles or on the street there should be no problem. There is a bathroom at Caribou.
If you are not up to the miles for whatever reason, come and do what you can. Come and walk if nothing else. Meeting each other gets our butts out the door right?
See you in the morning.

IMPORTANT INFO RE PARKING TONIGHT @ LUNDS
We cannot use the parking lot at Lund's tonight due to the Uptown Art Fair this weekend - only patrons of the store will be able to park there (this will be CLOSELY monitored). Side street parking is still available (and free) on Humboldt Avenue & Irving Avenue (south of Lake Street, and north of Lagoon Avenue).

Thursday hill work @ James St.
What a beautiful day! I hope everyone has a chance to enjoy the weather sometime today.
Thursday we will meet at Lunds,(Joleen talked with management and we can park there on week days.) We will meet at the top of the stairs and then go out for a good warm up and 3 hill repeats. I think everyone loves the new way we do the hills. I know I do. Remember, the way back is your cool down.
It is Art in the Park this week so you might want to try to get there earlier if possible. Otherwise, you can meet us at the hill. We will leave Lunds by 6:30 so you can decide what works best for you.
Sat. we will meet at Whole Foods@8:00 for our long run. Park behind Noodles and those stores, there are no signs to not park, so we think we are OK to park there.
Happy trails,
Cory

Thursday, July 30
After a successful outing to Lake Harriet for a run and a concert, we are going to be adventurous once again this Thursday and check out Minnehaha Falls. The concert there starts at 7 so we will meet at 6:15 near the top of the stairs next to Sea Salt (the yummy food option there). The entertainment will be The Dean Harrington Trio - Gypsy, Traditional and Latin Jazz. FYI: Here is a list of all Minneapolis parks concerts. Hope to see you there!

Concert in the Park, Tuesday 7/28
Hi friends,
Are you guys up for a run, picnic and concert in the park? July 28 Stan Bann Big Band Original/Contemporary Big Band Jazz is playing at 7:30 at Harriet.
Jim and I will be running tomorrow evening at 6:30. Let's meet at Harriet at the brown building bathrooms by the pathway from the concert area. If we can get going right away we should be good for the concert. Bring whatever you want to eat and drink in your picnic baskets.
Let me know to look for you or not.

New Training Schedule
Hello Everyone, It would be great if you could comment and let us know how many of you are interested in running with us. Anyone is welcome, so pass the blog along.
We will meet Thursday evening at 6:30 rain or shine, at Lunds to talk about the training schedule. I have found the best training schedule I can find for our needs. www.jeffgalloway.com/training/half_marathon.html The schedule is the one on the bottom of his page for those with a time goal. This is the best I can find to change things up a bit and to improve our times. This also should allow each person to improve and push as hard as they need to along with XT. Most injuries occur because we are not always patient enough to warm up well, and take the slow runs slowly enough. Use the Jeff Galloway site as a resource.
We look forward to seeing you and answering any questions. I am hoping to have a picnic and concert run when weather permits.
Also, Saturday's long run will be a bit shorter as you can see which allows everyone the chance to jump back in even if they need to walk part of it.
See you ALL soon!

Saturday, July 18th
We will meet on Saturday morning at 8:00AM @ the Calhoun Beach House for a 4 mile run (out-and-back to Rose Garden @ Lake Harriet). There is ample *free* parking along Calhoun Parkway (and side streets) for those looking for a place to park.
Dean and I have a funeral to attend at 11AM, so we will need to get started promptly @ 8.
It will be a cool fall-like morning - come and enjoy the rare, mild (less humid) weather with us!

Happy Summer Everyone!
Well, I know you are all busy and enjoying the summer. Jim and are very sorry to have not been down to run. I have really been down sick. The funny thing is that Jim and I are leaving today for Door Co. I have to do the bike at the Tri, (we'll see how slow I can go, ha, ha!). The important thing is that Jim is doing the Half Ironman. So think positive thoughts please. I'm hoping to be feeling better by next Tuesday's run. So I will see you then. I hope you are all well and happy. We miss you all!

We're Blogging!
Welcome everybody! We've decided to set up this blog to organize our group runs. We will let you know when and where we are meeting as well as post notices of changes, cancellations and gather a bit of information from you (via comments or polls). We hope you will share your ideas for future runs as well as other activities. Our goal with this blog is to provide some coordination of activities and facilitate group events.
Our current schedule for the summer is to run on Tuesday and Thursday evenings at 6:30 pm as well as Saturday mornings at 8 am (earlier if need be). Our meeting place will mostly be at Lund's between Lake and Lagoon but we may mix it up a bit to add some variety. For example, we would like to do some concert/picnics at Lake Harriet and may even do some runs along the Mississippi. We also would like to organize some bike rides and swims (hence our more generic "moving" vs "running"). Beginning the first week of September, we will switch our evening runs to Mondays and Wednesdays at 6:30 but continue meeting Saturday mornings.
There is free parking on Humboldt and Irving near Lunds. It is also a great location because we'll be able to grab beverages as well as take care of other "needs".
